Maggie’s War
A Word Award winner.
In 1942, telegrams always bring life-altering and tragic news in a war-hardened world—and the one Maggie Marshall receives is no different. But running a restaurant with the help of only pregnant, unwed girls has taught her to be tough. Maggie’s no weeping widow, but Charlotte Penfield thinks she’s the most unfeeling woman on earth. Seventeen, exiled by her wealthy parents, and working in the restaurant, fanciful Charlotte runs away with romantic notions of a reunion with her baby’s father at his military camp.
It has been years since Maggie darkened the church door of her pastor and childhood friend, Reverend Reuben Fennel, and his heart breaks for the hardened woman Maggie’s become. When she seeks his help to find Charlotte, he’s happy to aid her in the chase—though it may cost him his job and reputation.
Over the miles from Winnipeg to Fort William, Reuben and Maggie’s journey rekindles their affection—and their dreams of what they still could be. But Maggie stubbornly clings to her independent ways until she’s dealt another devastating loss, one that forces her to recognize that heroes can be discovered in unlikely places and love may be far sweeter than she ever dared imagine.
The Wonderful Journey of Edmund Beasley
Edmund James Beasley II is a writer and a new believer who hasn’t yet come to the realization he needs God’s help. After an incident in college, Edmund develops a phobia about showing his writing to the world and finds employment anywhere he can just to avoid doing so. Still stuck on an old love, he discovers he’s falling for Eleanor Collins, a woman he meets in the most unexpected of places after she contracts a mysterious virus that leaves people looking dead when they really are not.
Add to the mix a conspiracy theory addicted roommate by the name of Dale who believes the earth is flat and claims to know the real reason why the Mexican-U.S. border wall has yet to be completed, and Edmund’s life just got a whole lot more complicated.
This becomes particularly true when Dale discovers a 1800s manuscript while vacuuming and finds it contains plans for a time machine–well sort of anyway. The manuscript belongs to the “Rascal Brigade of the High Sciences” an assembly of prominent scientists and engineers. Since the late 1800s, the Rascal Brigade has been having fun with pseudoscience and conspiracy theories, and they inspire Edmund to write a novel.
But Edmund may get more than inspiration, for the group, coupled with the aftermath of the virus, sets Edmund off on an unexpected journey to catch a killer, for Eleanor’s sake, and to find that he may need God’s help after all.

Twelve of these women were sent to Occupied Europe as couriers and radio operators to aid the resistance, but they never returned home, their fates a mystery. Setting out to learn the truth behind the women in the photographs, Grace finds herself drawn to a young mother turned agent named Marie, whose daring mission overseas reveals a remarkable story of friendship, valor and betrayal.

All That’s Wrong with the Bible: Contradictions, Absurdities, and More: 2nd expanded edition
Can we prove that the Bible makes false claims? Do its moral teachings justify it being called “The Good Book?” Has the text been modified throughout the centuries? What about all those prophecies? Written by a linguist, ex-fundamentalist graduate of Liberty University, this book goes straight to the evidence and presents a concise case-by-case analysis of the most salient problems in the Christian Scriptures. With insightful commentary concerning frequent rebuttals used by apologists, it makes a solid case against evangelical claims to inerrancy. This 2nd edition has a much improved third chapter, providing several more examples of scribal changes to the New Testament, as well as a completely new section on textual differences in Greek manuscripts. The format of the paperback version has been adjusted in order to keep sale cost as low as possible.

Seamlessly Together
“In Seamlessly Together, Demark Manigo fits into words a spirituality that is difficult to describe. Manigo uses his five senses to bring the profound down to earth, so that we may all be transfixed by it. Much of his work reminds me of Daniel Ladinsky’s “Love Poems from God.” In his book, Ladinsky captures the voices of twelve sacred mystics in their ability to not only deliver up a reverence for God, but to dispel the dynamic of God as unknowable atop a human hierarchy. Mystics like St. Teresa of Avila, Rumi, Hafiz, and St. Francis show God to be as accessible as any mortal beloved and in that accessibility somehow more sacred. This style of poetry could be considered controversial for removing the veil between humankind and God, but the truth of such writing is how it reveals a great intimacy that we are all seeking. Manigo’s poetry possesses both this accessibility and intimacy. Perhaps, his dance background is responsible. He weaves words through the page, the way a dancer moves over a stage. His sense of flow, rhythm, and repetition hooks a reader like musical verse. But it is the divine light in his writing that is so captivating. Readers will look forward to watching this young man further develop his craft. As with any young artist there is room for growth, still, there is a timelessness to his poetic sense of transcendence any reader can find in his words right now.”

Searching for Sunday: Loving, Leaving, and Finding the Church
Like millions of her millennial peers, Rachel Held Evans didn’t want to go to church anymore. The hypocrisy, the politics, the gargantuan building budgets, the scandals–church culture seemed so far removed from Jesus. Yet, despite her cynicism and misgivings, something kept drawing her back to Church. And so she set out on a journey to understand Church and to find her place in it.
Centered around seven sacraments, Evans’ quest takes readers through a liturgical year with stories about baptism, communion, confirmation, confession, marriage, vocation, and death that are funny, heartbreaking, and sharply honest.
A memoir about making do and taking risks, about the messiness of community and the power of grace, Searching for Sunday is about overcoming cynicism to find hope and, somewhere in between, Church.

The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are
When our embarrassments and fears lie, we often listen to them anyway. They thwart our gratitude, acceptance, and compassion—our goodness. They insist, “I am not worthy.” But we are worthy—of self-discovery, personal growth, and boundless love. With Brené Brown’s game-changing New York Times bestseller The Gifts of Imperfection—which has sold more than 2 million copies in more than 30 different languages, and Forbes recently named one of the “Five Books That Will Actually Change Your Outlook On Life”—we find courage to overcome paralyzing fear and self-consciousness, strengthening our connection to the world.
A motivational and inspiring guide to wholehearted living, rather than just the average self-help book, with this groundbreaking work Brené Brown, Ph.D., bolsters the self-esteem and personal development process through her characteristic heartfelt, honest storytelling. With original research and plenty of encouragement, she explores the psychology of releasing our definitions of an “imperfect” life and embracing living authentically. Brown’s “ten guideposts” are benchmarks for authenticity that can help anyone establish a practice for a life of honest beauty—a perfectly imperfect life.
Now more than ever, we all need to cultivate feelings of self-worth, as well as acceptance and love for ourselves. In a world where insults, criticisms, and fears are spread too generously alongside messages of unrealistic beauty, attainment, and expectation, we look for ways to “dig deep” and find truth and gratitude in our lives. A new way forward means we can’t hold on too tightly to our own self-defeating thoughts or the displaced pain in our world. Instead, we can embrace the imperfection.
