Books That Deserve To Be Read

There are more than half a million books published each year in the US alone. Not all of them make the best seller lists. We are on a quest to find the books that deserve to be in the best seller list.

Comet the Red Bus, Around the City

Comet the Red Bus: Around the City is the first book of a series of fun and colourful children’s books.
This book is an introduction to the character of Comet the Red Bus and his driver Billie, a friendly driver.
Containing bright colour pictures throughout the book will delight children while reading the rhyming words.

The Houseboat

Jason and his friends are ready to have the summer of their lives fixing up what they believe is an abandoned houseboat. What they didn’t realize is that in the process, they would cross paths with murderous escapees from the Hospital for the Criminally Insane. What should have been a summer of adventures and first loves turns into a real-life nightmare that will forever haunt them.

A Tennessee Story

In the 1950s in segregated Tennessee, six free souls find themselves transgressing the rigid social boundaries left over from the old South. The son of a bigoted farmer is fascinated by a letter stolen from a 15-year-old sharecropper girl asking help from Martin Luther King. The aged white owner of a mountain cabin finds himself playing grandfather to the same black sharecropper girl. And a rich valley boy whose life has been carefully planned by his father is spellbound by a dirt-poor mountain girl who talks like it is 1800 and who can never ever fit into his father’s plan—and it turns out he doesn’t fit into her father’s plan either. Relationships intertwine as characters struggle with desire vs. fear. Secret meetings and lies abound, for the enforcement of custom is harsh. Violence and disaster await only a simple misstep, a chance encounter, a wrong guess, as the Old South flashes its unspent fury and love demonstrates its eternal claim on human hearts. Two volumes.

The Second Coming of Angela

Thomas was sound asleep at 3 am when the phone began to ring incessantly. As he grabbed the phone and mumbled a hello, the voice on the other end caused him to bolt upright. It was Angela’s voice, the wife from whom he had been separated before her supposed death five years earlier. Her plea was urgent. She was in grave danger and needed his help, which would require his traveling to Brazil. Ultimately, he reluctantly agreed, if only for the sake of his daughters. The journey to rescue her would take him to Sao Paulo, Rio, Brasilia, and Manaus, 1,000 miles up the Amazon River. He would encounter a Brazilian love interest who becomes an integral part of his ultimate rescue plan. The mission would end up putting him in the crosshairs of dangerous criminals from both Brazil and New York, all of whom would ultimately seek to eliminate him. Is survival possible?

Paragraph Thirty-Eight

As Mayor Oliver Slattery asks August Sloan, his Chief Investigator, “Why should I care about Paragraph Thirty-Eight?” Because one person’s trash is another person’s millions. In order to secure a sole city-wide solid waste franchise, Nutrino Waste regional manager Daniel Hendricks enlists City Commissioner Jordan Fowler, and City Contract/Procurement Director Glennis Saint John. She is a beautiful, ruthless, and brilliant assassin, who realizes the true value of Paragraph Thirty-Eight. With the aid of disgruntled City Attorney Marshall Hunter, Saint John devises a way via Paragraph Thirty-Eight to extract millions from the recently approved Franchise Agreement. The trouble with millions of dollars though is that there are then a million reasons to eliminate partners, and increase individual shares. A sub-plot concerns an upcoming civil trial in which the City is a defendant, and is integral in exposing the motivation for several characters’ actions.

Set during the holiday season, Paragraph Thirty-Eight is a fast-paced political thriller that numbs the senses, opens old wounds, tests the boundaries of trust, and revisits past atrocities. Some live, some die, and through Paragraph Thirty-Eight all are affected in ways unimagined. After reading Paragraph Thirty-Eight one realizes that it is a commentary on social justice, political avarice, arrogance, and the slim difference between sinner and saint.

The literary reviews are as encouraging as the consumer feedback. The Adventures of Mat Rufs won the Fiction Book of the Year award as well as 5-star reviews from Literary Titan, OnlineBookClub.org, and the LoveReading (the UK’s leading book recommendation website).

The novel is a fun suspenseful story – “exciting, intriguing, and scary with well-rounded, believable characters” (LoveReading) — that will entertain and delight. The characters are immaculately articulated, the personalities are complex, and the tension is built up just right. Apart from the story itself, the book is packed with information about history, attitudes, relations, travel, and many aspects that are typically learned through non-fiction books. So, it is essentially a two-for-one – you won’t notice you are learning because you are so entertained.

A mysterious woman’s disappearance. A botched, messy robbery. An unsettling police interrogation. A cold-blooded murder …or all of the above, perhaps?

Anna Smith and Bern Andrews are best friends, even though Anna is a neurologist with expertise in memory loss and Bern is one of the patients she is studying. Bern lost all his memories due to a fire trauma and Anna is working with him on recovery. However, Anna has memory problems of her own that she refuses to recognize. Unlike Bern, she has vivid and intense memories of her childhood and of her parents, but her shyness, insecurity, and reclusive existence prevent her from experiencing any new events that could become new memories. It is only when her father’s best friend David Oxford is murdered that Anna steps out of her rigid life. David’s murder seems to involve a secret government program on memory engineering that Anna’s father had headed. Anna solicits Bern’s help in solving the mystery of David’s murder, and in doing so, discovers a mystery about herself that her father has kept secret all her life.

People call him Morrow. They aren’t sure if Morrow is his first name or last, and they don’t care. They call him when they’re in trouble. They call him when conventional methods don’t work. They call him when they need a solution that no one else can offer.
Morrow is a product of the streets.

At an early age, he learned to anticipate what people would do given a few choices. He became a self-educated student of human nature, and later in life, he became a con man. Morrow isn’t your normal hero. He’s barely six feet tall and he’s not muscle-bound. He’s not tougher or more experienced than his opposition. He’s just an average man who blends in and earns his living by out-planning and out-thinking his adversaries.

Morrow searches for situations that allow him to squeeze between two opposing forces. Then he picks one side to be his client and the other to be his mark. Now, after being tutored for years by a con mentor, he’s about ready to launch his first-ever full-fledged con. He knows his objective, he’s designed his plan, he’s selected his team, and he knows he’s ready to act.

It’s what he doesn’t know that could be his downfall.

New Millennium Revelations – A Belief System For A Good, New, Next Generation

Sacred Secret Revealed!
Hidden in the pages of the King James Version of the Holy Bible is the answer to all of mankind’s questions, but no one has been able to find those answers reading the stories that present themselves on the surface.
Many BELIEVE that the Holy Bible is the inerrant WORD of God. That every word in every verse in every chapter of every book from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation is in every way correct and without flaw.
I agree 100%, no IF’s AND’s or BUT’s about it, the Holy Bible is the inerrant WORD of God!
I discovered that some thirty years ago when I walked into a corner bar where I met the most interesting young lady. She was twenty-seven years old and still a virgin, in America, working as a bartender. She was a Jehovah’s Witness, born and raised.
One thing led to another and before I knew it I was on stage reading a passage from the bible in the process of becoming a Jehovah’s Witness myself. To get to that point I had to do a lot of studying of the Holy Bible. They gave me a copy of the New World Translation bible, a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance and an Elder to guide my learning.
That’s when all HELL broke loose in my mind!
For the first time in my life, I could understand everything I read in the King James Version of the Holy Bible! I remembered crying tears of joy for hours because I could feel the WORD filling my heart. It wasn’t long after that day that my elder, who was supposed to be guiding my learning, asked me to leave the congregation!
It started the day I looked up the word JESUS in my Strong’s Concordance. The origin of the word Jesus is from a Hebrew meaning which is Jehovah-saved.
Naturally, I figured since the New Testament was about the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that Jehovah-saved meant that Jehovah saved Jesus Christ by raising him from the dead.
Of course, reading that a man named Jesus was brought back to life and learning that his name meant Jehovah-saved I wanted to know wha

★★★★★ Strongly characterized Supernatural Horror GHOSTS OF A COVEN PAST is a remarkably engrossing and superbly constructed Supernatural Horror offering featuring a creative premise and strong characterization throughout . Combining elements of Pagan, Christian, and Roman Catholic belief systems, the novel does contain some occasional avenues of Extreme Horror, as exemplifying the incursions of Evil into our world. Basically the overarching theme is Light vs. Darkness, but I found the overtone more Judeo-Christian and Dark Arts than Lovecraftian Cosmic Horror, but still a riveting read.— Goodreads Reader

“Peter J. White and his Ghost Hunter: The Hollow Men should be at the top of that list and profiled on library book recommendation lists as a standout.” —D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review/Editor, Donovan’s Literary Services.

★★★★★ “Gripping and Timely Page Turner: From the first line, this tale grabs you and draws you in. Human trafficking is the dark side of our civilization, the modern, brutal form of slavery.
